Kolkata Food series is incomplete without showcasing a traditional Bengali Thali. I have shown golgappa / pani puri in my Kolkata Street Food video and indian Street Food video. I have shown many Indian thali / veg thali from different regions of India including the biggest thali, dara singh thali and babubali thali. Traditional Bengali feast food is all about the depth of flavours. Egg curry, rasgulla is my all time favourite Bengali Dish. I sometimes do food challenge of rasgulla eating with my friends for fun. Mustard seed, mustard oil, chillies are used in abundance in bengali cooking. The Bengali Thali is special and it's to be consumed course by course. So here is what the Aheli Bengali Kolkata Restaurant, Pearless Inn Veg Bengali Thali comprises of - 1) BAINGAN BHAJA - Brinjal coated with turmeric, chilli powder and other spices, pan fried until crispy. A classic bengali appetizer. 2) LUCHI - Refined flour puri, it has to be consumed with baingan bhaja. 3) SHUKTO - Bengali palate cleanser made with mixed vegetables that even includes bitter groud. Sweet and bitter in flavour, enhances your appetite. 4) DAL - Toor dal that's tempered in home made desi ghee, red chillies and radhuni. Radhuni is a classic bengali herb similar to ajwain but different in its flavour and aroma. 5) BHAPA CHANAR - Cottege cheese made in a cashew cream gravy. Rich and creamy texture, has a hint of sweetness. 6) PATOL POSTO - Parwal vegetable cooked in a poppy seed paste gravy. It even has a punch of green chillies. 7) MOCHAR GHONTO - Banana blossoms and potato subji made with garam masala. 8) ALOO DUM - Baby potatoes cooked in a onion gravy with loads of whole spices. 9) STEAMED RICE - The staple accompaniment for all dishes, each and every vegetable is had with rice. 10) PULAV - Steamed rice tossed in ghee with dry fruits. It's had when you find the main dish way too spicy. 11) FRIED PAPAD - Just add crunchy texture to the food by consuming it along with the food. 12) GEHENA BARA - A dal vada made in a shape of a gold ornament. Coated with poppy seed for an extra flavour. Super crispy. 13) MISHTI DOI - Bengali yogurt prepared using thickened milk and caramelized sugar. Served in an earthen pot. 14) GUR RASGULLA - Bengali meal is incomplete without a rasgulla, this one was special as it was sweetened using jaggery. Location - https://maps.google.com/?cid=64187086...
