Kala Chana Recipe - Black Chickpeas Curry
INGREDIENTS:
250 grms Dried Black Chickpeas(Kala Chana)
2 Finely Chopped Big Size Onions
2 Finely Chopped Big Size Tomatoes
4-5 Finely Chopped Green Chilies
9-10 Curry Leaves
2-3 Bay Leaves
2 Tbsp Ginger-Garlic Paste
1 Tsp Cumin Seeds
1/2 Tsp Turmeric Powder
1 Tsp Cumin Seeds Powder
1 Tbsp REd CHil Powder
1 Tbsp Coriander Powder
1 Tbsp Garam Masala
Finely Chopped Coriander Leaves
Oil OR Ghee 3-4 Tbsp
Water As Required
Salt To Taste
METHOD :
1.Soak black chickpeas(kala chana)in water overnight or 8-9 hours
After soaking,it gets larger in size and remove the water
2.Place a pressure cooker on a gas and Turn on flame
3.Add 3-4 tbsp oil OR ghee in the pressure cooker and heat it
4.Add cumin seeds and bay leaves
Saute it for few seconds
5.Add finely chopped onions and fry till they become light brown
on medium flame
6.Add chopped green chilies and curry leaves in it
and saute it for a minute
7.Add ginger-garlic paste in it and saute for 1-2 minutes
on medium flame till the raw smell of paste goes away
8.Add turmeric powder,red chili powder,coriander powder
and garam masala and mix it well
9.Add chopped tomatoes and mix it well
10.Add cumin powder and stirr
11.Cover the pressure cooker and cook the tomatoes on low
flame till the oil start leaving from all sides of masala
12.Add soaked black chana in the masala and mix it well
13.Add salt to taste and mix it well
14.Cover with lid and cook chana with masala for 1-2 minutes
15.Add 2 cups water in the pressure cooker
Pressure cook for (15-20minutes) 6-7 whistles
16.After 6-7 whistles, turn off flame
Let the pressure go down by itself
17.Open the lid and check it chana should be cooked well and soft
18.If it mash easily means it is ready to serve
19.Add chopped coriander leaves and mix it well
20.SPICY KALA CHANA MASALA is ready
Serve the curry in a bowl
Serve the KALA CHANA CURRY with roti,chapati,puri and
cooked rice.
